Il team di Banshee ha annunciato il rilascio della versione 1.5.5 del famoso player musicale di GNOME. Tante le novità di questa nuova release, le più significative sono (direttamente dal sito di Banshee):

• Improve search responsiveness on large libraries
• Add icons for Nexus One and Audiobooks
• Play Queue item count, size, duration now ignores old tracks
• Muinshee fixes: disable Auto-DJ, allow reordering, hide previous song

Sono stati anche risolti un bel po’ di bug, tra cui:

• Fix a very common, SQL-related crash in 1.5.4
• Fix saving equalizer settings in culture-invariant way
• Jumping to a source’s prefs via its context menu works again
• Usage data not submitted more than every 48 hours
• Fix repeatedly resyncing some files to a device b/c transcoded
• Clear the redo stack on shuffle mode change
• Accept feeds with empty title
• Uri encode file location queries, making them work properly
• Fixes to the OS X build

ma naturalmente nella pagina ufficiale sopra linkata troverete tutte le nuove caratteristiche del software. Se possedete Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic e volete installare Banshee 1.5.5 allora ci basterà affidarci ai repository ufficiali PPA del progetto.

Aprite il terminale ed importate i repository con la seguente sintassi:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa

Adesso aggiornate la lista dei pacchetti:

sudo apt-get update

Ed installiamo Banshee 1.5.5 con tutti i relativi componenti:

sudo apt-get install banshee banshee-extension-alarm banshee-extension-lirc banshee-extension-mirage banshee-extension-lyrics

Se possedete già una vecchia versione di Banshee vi basterà andare su “Gestione Aggiornamenti” ed aggiornare il tutto.
